Beautiful North organizes canoe trips in Ontario’s wilderness and waterway parks to such beautiful destinations as Killarney, French River, Temagami and Algonquin Park.
Trips involve five to eight participants and two guides and range from four to 12 days. Trips designed for novice to intermediate canoeists typically involve short paddling days, few portages and at least one lay over day. Intermediate trips are more physically demanding and assume some canoeing and portaging experience. River Trips require some white water experience. On trips that offer watercolour instruction by Martha Bull, more time is allowed for painting.
Canoe trips can be physically demanding but we make every effort to accommodate differing levels of physical strength. Our trips will challenge you but they are not tests of your strength or stamina. Whether it is paddling or portaging, setting up camp or pumping water you will be invited to participate in the way that makes you most comfortable, and provides you with opportunities to develop your skills and build confidence.
Food is an essential part of the Beautiful North experience. From your morning cup of fair-trade coffee or herbal tea, to wine with dinner, and bedtime snacks, we offer a wilderness cuisine that is creative, healthy, abundant, and flexible enough to meet your dietary needs and preferences.
Our prices include all park fees, equipment and meals. We provide a checklist for all you need to bring -- clothing, personal effects and a sleeping bag. Transportation to the point of departure is available for an additional cost. Extra fees will also be charged for paints and brushes for those taking waiting colour instruction.
